They. Just. Make. Life. Better. |
These are my home-made vegetarian "Spicy Sliders" with a side of fresh tomatoes, some of my wife's dill pickles (hiding somewhere) and fried onions. Add a rootbeer. And then a scoop of Aero bar ice cream for dessert. That's what I call zoetic.
Spicy Sliders
-1 can of kidney beans drained, rinsed and crushed with a fork
-1 cup of rolled oats
-1/2 cup of your favourite salsa
-1 jalapeño chopped
-1 small onion chopped
-3 cloves of crushed garlic
-Mix with some cumin and lemon pepper and whatever spices you want and I'm sure you can figure out the rest. They are best fried. (They're so low fat, why not?)

Wait..... Aero. Bar. Icecream...?
OMG... Want some!
Yes. It's the devil. Be careful.
The picture has made me hungry. So hungry I would eat a "meat" less sammich.
are you a vegetarian or just know how to appreciate some veg from time to time? i'm always happy to find something fresh & new in the vegetarian list of options.
Mmmm, it DOES look good!
That looks good. I'm hungry too.
Yee hah!! It's what's for dinner!!
@OT Very appropriate.
@Sherilin I'm not a full time vegetarian. I eat fish about twice a week but chicken maybe twice a month. I don't eat red meat. Oh and hot dogs. I eat them all the time. (Just kidding.) I love vegetarian food the most. And sadly, my other food group is chips.
@DSWS It was.
@AC Try some culinary arts (it's mostly science).
@Al Yes sir.
They sound yummy. I'm like you, a vegetarian who eats fish. This sounds like my ideal recipe. And, of course, as you say, accompanied by the other main food group - chips - even better.
I would not have pegged you as a vegetarian. WHO ARE YOU? (I have an approach-avoidance conflict with V eating.)
@Fran Hope you like them.
@Michael I'm not a strict vegetarian thus rendering me not a vegetarian at all in some circles, but I do eat vegetarian about 80% of the time. I can understand your response in terms of tofu...still can't make myself like it.
Right, but the outcome is supposed to be edible art.
That makes you a pescetarian. I make tofu burgers. Tastes like chicken.
Really. I can't make tofu taste like anything other than drywall. Recipe?
the trick with tofu, i think, is don't use the silken kind, too slimey, and marinate it for some good flavor.
my favorite food groups are usually potatoes & cheese. i think my tongue could happily live on those 2 things forever.
Tofu burgers al Antares:
Please note I don't "follow" recipes or measurements, you're on your own.
-silken/soft tofu
-1 egg
-shredded carrots, cilantro, green onions (minced/chopped)
-sesame seeds and bread crumbs
-spices, herbs (I use curry or soya sauce)
-a little oil unless you're frying them
mix, knead
I bake them, that way if I forget they turn into crispy tofu crackers.
Blogging is making me share recipes, what's next? *rides off on unicorn throwing sparkles*
Where do you get fresh tomatoes at this time of the year? I haven't even planted mine yet.
I take my hat off to Antares with the tofu burgers. I'm like you, my tofu tastes like drywall.
You sir are a culinary god!
@Sherilin Thanks for the tip.
@AC Ha! Great closing line. I will try this sometime. Thanks. *throws sparkles*
@TheGW Poor choice of adjective. From Costco. That's as fresh as one gets here in Northern Alberta until August.
@jono Whoa. I think you meant to say culinary guido. But my bean sliders are good.
