What a fine new word! It's the opposite of scoot. A nod to being irresolute. And if you're reading this while snuggled into your rocker recliner, moot.
Pootling is a great word! For a long time after I retired, I still rushed everywhere and then I realized that there was no need to do that. It was a habit.
I love a bit of pootling but sadly do more scooting than pootling! English is just a great language, isn’t it? I am saying this even if English not useful for making long long nouns by stringing words together, like in German. Got to scoot, my cat is calling for food!
English is indeed fun and every time I dabble in another language, I love language even more. Fingers crossed that you find some time soon for more pootling than scooting.
I'll try to work on this!
ReplyDeleteYes, please do; I recommend it.
DeleteA new word for "retirement," if you're me and not one of my more ambitious friends. -Kate
ReplyDeleteHa, clever. It's a fine synonym indeed.
DeleteIs it moot to poot? Pootling is the best thing about retirement. It isn't big trips, as wonderful as they are, but the ability to simply poot.
ReplyDeleteSimply poot? That sir, should be a t-shirt slogan, ha.
DeleteI'm going to pootle all day long today!
ReplyDeleteWell done, Debra. Insert fist bump here.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're now perfecting pootling instead.
DeleteI putter. Does that count? I learned it from my mom. Both the word and the action.
ReplyDeleteCounts.
DeleteThat's how I spent my Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteA great way to notice things that I whizzed by previously!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Paying attention is everything.
DeleteI'm noodling the idea of pootling. Gotta admit, it does sound soothing.
ReplyDeleteApplause emoji for your use of parallel vowel teams.
DeletePootling, exactly what I am doing today. Catching up on blogs on a rainy day!
ReplyDeletePerfect.
DeletePootling, that's how my dog walks these days. We go for slow strolls.
ReplyDeleteHa, that paints a picture.

ReplyDelete...this word here is new for me and I like it. The modern human hurry from one date to the next. I couldn't and therefore I prefer slow down.
Pootling is my thing.
Yes yes yes to slowing down.
DeleteWe often pootle along, usually in a car, but sometimes on foot.
ReplyDeleteAs you should.
DeleteIn a fast-paced world, pootling should mandatory!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
