Yes, for those in the (forever) true North strong and free, it's time to (re)embrace the cold (but please not last year, sigh).
If that sounds preposterous to you, well congratulations, you probably live somewhere consistently warm(er) BUT, remember cold exposure has some incredible benefits: mosquitoes basically explode like the tiny Karens they are. Sure not literally, but we Canadians like to imagine them cancelled quite dramatically. The truth is though that cold weather health benefits include few allergy triggers, boosted immunity, extra calories burned, and let's not forget hypothermia. 😱

I already have cabin fever.
ReplyDeleteHa, relatable.
DeleteOn the coldest day in the winter I can dress up and stay warm, but miserable summer heat and humidity is impossible to escape. Actually, it's balmy here in southern Ontario; yesterday it hit 17.5 degrees.
ReplyDeleteGood point, but your weather yesterday? Whoa. Jealous.
DeleteI'm thinking of busting out my winter coat.
ReplyDeleteSaid everyone in Alberta, ha.
DeleteAfter growing up in a really cold climate, and now living in one that is more moderate, I don't know if I could go back to that coldness. All of my family (except me) lives in New England or way upstate NY. I frequently think about moving closer to my family, but the long winters are something that gives me pause!
ReplyDeleteIt's not easy, but it's worth it to live in Canada.
DeleteIt is a cool, foggy morning in the mountains just west of Denver this morning. There is a light covering of snow on the ground and the temperature is slightly above the freezing point.
ReplyDeleteWe are into our final week of dog sitting (aka wolf watching) and will likely spend a few days with the kids when they return home.
But I am looking forward to returning home to the lowlands where breathing is easier and the temperatures are a little warmer.
Hang in there. Wolf-watching? Ha, I assume howling is part of the job?
DeleteOooof, that is cold. I had to put on "leg traps" for the first time this week.
ReplyDeleteLeg traps? Do tell. Or do you mean pants? If so, haha well done, and yup, jealous.
DeleteIt hasn't gotten that cold here yet, but I'm already missing the warmth of the sun during our summer classes. It's gotten down to freezing a few times at night, and I'm so not ready for the cold and winter. I can't imagine what winters are like up in Canada. Stay warm, my friend!
ReplyDeleteWinters here are... wintery, but wintering is just what we do. I whine a bit, but I dress warmly and shovel snow and still make s'mores in the snow. Thanks for visiting.
