As my oldest granddaughter once said, "Happy New Day, Pops." It is indeed. The saskatoons are ripening— my favourite sign of Canadian summer. Happy Canada Day, friends.
Science says even looking at trees boosts your mental health. What's your favourite tree? Or berry?

Every tree is great, as far as I'm concerned. And yes, saskatoons! They will be available at the local farmers market about the 3rd week in July. I have it marked in my daytimer to go buy some then and pig out until they're gone for another year.
Happy Canada Day!
My favorite tree is a familiar one to my Canadian friends -- the maple tree! Majestic when full in the summer and ablaze with color in the fall.
Speaking of trees, I see many silk lilac trees as we walk about. For whatever reason ours, out front, seems on its last legs (branches?), and the one out back has already bit the dust although it is making a comeback in bush form.
I am a blueberry/raspberry person but I also think loganberries (Swedish) are fabulous. My favourite tree is the horse chestnut at the bottom of our garden, but I also think banyan trees are magical.
