This sounds complicated - we used to have a neighbor who thought the only sweet part of a watermelon was above the rind. That is, if you gave him a quarter slice, he would only eat the point that was above the edges of the rind - so ^.
We invited them over for a picnic once and my mother solved the problem by giving each person a perfect half circle. Ted didn't know how to handle his, so my dad cut in into long pie-shaped slivers, so all but about a tablespoon was below the skin line. Ted looked askance, but actually ate the entire thing.

You're right in regards to watermelon, but what are your feeling regarding not eating the orange and just sucking out the juice?

Sometimes I eat a little of the rind just to be sure I got it all.
