This is really quite sad.
"Tasty"? Those things taste like sweet chalk haha.
I remember those from my childhood. When I turned 18, I started smoking. For the next 15 years. Thanks, Popeye!
I wonder when they stopped calling them "Popeye cigarettes"???
looks like these little candy things we had here..years ago when I loved them they were white with a red end.. they were called "FAGS"... even came in a little box like real smokes(lol)
some years later they renamed them "FADS" ...
heh..
Coffin nails for kids.......
There used to be some more overt, sugar sticks that if you blew, puffs of sugar would come out, giving you the full smoking experience. But then again, this was back when people thought there was Vitamin C in tobacco. I can't believe these are still around.
We have an ice cream truck that makes regular runs through our neighborhood. One time, the guy claimed to have no change for the kids, so he sent them home with candy cigarettes as their payment.
The kids now refer to him as "the creeper" and don't even bother begging for money when they hear him come around.
Agreed.
And that word "tasty" on the outside. That's false advertising imo.
I used to love candy cigs when I was little: Lucky Strike candy cigs. Bubble gum cigars too! Never touched the real thing, though.
I remember when I was really young buying candy cigarettes. They were white with pink tips.

oh yeah, and I remember those black licorice pipes, that had white and red sprinkles on the part where one would put tobacco
I used to love these as a kid...and yet never went on to smoke...
Well, smoking makes you look really cool. Even popeye thinks so.
Remember the ones we had when we were kids? There was a little bit of powdered sugar inside THE ROLLING PAPER that you could blow out and make some pretend smoke. I wonder if anyone has studied whether children who eat these candies are more likely to smoke. I'm thinking no. Parents that smoke? I'm thinking maybe yes.
