we all know some words are better left unsaid. Conversely, this adage suggests that some words are best said.
Precise language impacts worldview. Words influence action. So, dear friends, what if you and I—at some point today—released this word like a balloon into this sorry world?
Codex: Truth.
ReplyDeleteBut how does this word differ from compassion?
Remember that the brain loves novelty.
DeleteCodex: I have been looking for a word between compassion and empathy. Does it even exist?
DeleteFun (but tough) question...sympathy? sentiment? attention? understanding? philia?
DeleteThis word does get used all the time but in its longer opposite word -- "ruthless."
ReplyDeleteIt sure does, sigh.
DeleteCompassion for others is good
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteI will try a little ruth today and also remember that's my wife's middle name, and it suits.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it suits you both.
DeleteI hadn't seen this word before, but I like the way you think.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI have a friend called Ruth and this describes her very well.
ReplyDeleteLucky you.
DeleteThank you for this lesson. I had not heard Ruth used in this way. Compassion for others is good no matter the name.🧡
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
Delete...yet another word that is new to me, thanks!
ReplyDeleteAren't new words the best?
DeleteWhat a wonderful way to think of language, releasing its healing power into the world like colorful balloons.
ReplyDeleteThank you. 'Tis apt, isn't it?
DeleteI have never heard ruth used this way, only ruthless. I like learning new words though, thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteA new to me word, I was only familiar with the name Ruth. I do rather like, also like to have a meaning for a name I also like.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great name isn't it?
DeleteI say we add the word "ruthmore" to counteract its evil twin.
ReplyDeleteClever! Should be on t-shirts!
DeleteIt puts a new spin on ruthless, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize this word existed! Thanks for the tidbit, DB :)
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: I’ve never heard of this word, and yet it’s something we should all remember.
ReplyDeleteNew to me! thank you for sharing! :)
