In my view, the 2020s need more LEGO.
Recently, I spent an afternoon with my two-year-old grandson being his LEGOfer. As a fellow creative—and his (big-kid) assistant—I encouraged all his creations. However, some of my prototypes were approved, while others were dismantled without explanation. 😂
What are you waiting for? Also, dear friends, consider rewatching the LEGO Movie. Like LEGO itself, it's designed for multiple interactions. For example, I bet you missed this favourite line. 😄
Hahahahaha, "dark and brooding." I haven't watched the Lego movie. Now I think I should.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a good line, isn't it?
DeleteCodex: HAVE YOU SEEN THE LEGO KITS FOR ADULTS???,?
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is just telling you you're doing it wrong. It's not his creative vision.
YES! My DIL loves them. Ha, yes, I agree and I will follow his lead anywhere.
DeleteWhen I was young, LEGOs did not come in kits with themes, but it seems like one can be just as creative and mix things up with a kit as without. Funny that your grandchild had opinions about your creations.
ReplyDeleteSame. Now the mix up phase is post creation. Either way, fun.
DeleteLegos sure have changed a lot since we were kids. Remember Erector Sets? Do those even exist anymore? We have not seen the Lego movie yet, we may need to put it on our list.
ReplyDeleteYes, many changes but still in my top three toys.
DeleteI love building with LEGOS. Maybe I'll get the bin out of the storage area and do just that.
ReplyDeleteI say why not?
DeleteI love LEGOs too, but I would be thrilled if the world had more Tinker Toys myself.
ReplyDeleteWe have some Tinker Toys from the 1980s. Our gkids love them.
DeleteLEGO (all caps both singular and plural are the same no 's' according to their website) is the absolute best toy out there and has been for a long time. It's never the same twice. I have two large rubbermaid totes in my program and donated two totes of them to the company I work for as well. There has never been a single day in 21 years of doing my job that kids aren't building and creating with LEGO. As far as I know, it's not possible to outgrow them, my son still builds and he's pushing 40 now. Your grandchild(ren) are fortunate indeed!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely the best. My grown son loves them too.
DeleteLet your inner child out for the holiday LEGO festival. :)
ReplyDeleteAnytime is a good time to nurture your inner child.
DeleteOh dear, I have a hard time deciphering kid speech, and the clip was the same.
ReplyDeleteIt moves fast for sure: Transcribed he says, "Hey, I can be dark and brooding too, oh guys, look, a rainbow."
DeleteWe have a houseful of Lego and its predecessor, Meccano. It's fun to make something, though I never seem to get much beyond a very simple house, unless I'm following instructions.
ReplyDeleteWith and without instructions (as Ami says above) it's never the same twice.
DeleteI love Lego and totally agree with you. We have a big tub of Lego here, that was son's and now all the grand kids play with it. Makes you think, and I love that!
