Things that deserve the stink-eye?

Our lovely river curves like a smile (and a wink).
What's it like living in Northern Canada?

1. Cool winds are not unusual, even in May. Canadians know that if you wait for shorts weather, your patience will wither. (Just roll with it.)

2. In 19/20 Canadian locations, the wilderness is rarely more than a five minute walk, in any direction. (Just get your boots on.)

3. Like all the countries I've visited (Italy, Greece, Scotland, and Ireland, to name a few), Northern Canada is just as beautiful as anywhere else in the world, but admittedly, a little rustic here and there. Example? Although our river is currently high enough to hide it, there's an old van (yes, a van*) under those ripples. (Just don't look too closely.)

(Fl)awesomeness beats perfection. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

*Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Alberta, and the rest of Canada, is amazingly beautiful. What river is this? Red Deer or North Saskatchewan?

Knowing me, I'd love it there. I am never opposed to a close proximity to wildnerness or cool winds in May (though I would prefer to keep my vehicle out of the river).

Beautiful river. We have alot here but they are usually surrounded by mountains or bush. Water is so soothing. I agree, perfection is boring.

I would have no problem with May coolness, as long as it was expected.

We're in the mountains here so it's not shorts weather either. We're thankful we have had a bit or rain instead of sunshine. We need it.

Edmonton is the furthest north I've been -- no wait, I went up to Glendon a few years back to see the Giant Perogy Statue. But of course, that's still not truly "north," is it!

By our park there is a washed out dock that gas recently come downriver. Not as impressive as a car, but it was still an unexpected sight on the weekend.

I don't know. I've only ever seen it from that distance and when the river is low, only the cab is visible. If I recall correctly, it was swept away in a flood years ago and that's where it's snagged.

Nope, lots more north. If you ever decide to venture further north, Grande Cache is beautiful (with an excellent river rapids adventure) and Grande Prairie has some beautiful trails. Canoeing (or floating) down the Peace River is a great time too.

...there is beauty to see wherever you direct your eyes!

Whops! Someone missed the turning? Ending up in the river is no fun at all.

Codex: Even Dan Brown did not see that coming

I love cool weather. We lived in Fairbanks, Alaska for 10 years. I wonder if anyone will attempt to retrieve the van from the river.

We love northern Canada! The wilderness of Ontario is one of our favorite places.
