Travel makes me grateful and reflective but I need time to process all that discovery and restorative-ness.
This trip we traveled with our daughter, her husband, his parents and our grandchildren. Imagine.
There are stories to tell about French fries and puffer fish and a margarita stand, but mostly there was precious time to play with our favourite grandtoddlers, 3 year-old M and 1 year-old L. And although there are many impressive photos of the beach and sunsets and an excursion to a tiny island and a burrito bigger than a birthday cake, I keep returning to pictures of my daughter with her children, and this one with her young son.
It's impossible to accurately describe the feeling of watching your children be parents to their own children: it's joy, it's pride, it's time-travel, it's nostalgia, it's laughter, it's longing, it's...peace...it's a fullness...(it's fleeting and forever) and I wish it for everyone.

"fleeting and forever" -- what an evocative phrase!
I would love to have that and I'm glad that you have it. You are blessed.
I have four wonderful grandies. And I have been watching them grow up. Sadly for me they all live some distance away now, so I don't see them as much as I would wish, but you are right, watching my sons become dads has been a marvellous experience. How lucky you are to enjoy a 3 generation holiday.
It's a good time of life for you to enjoy them when they are young and you are young enough. :)
I’m so happy for you! ❤️
I treasure my limited time with children and grandchildren.
Truth.
It was indeed special. Happy for you too (despite distance).
It sure is, sir.
Thank you.
Happy you get at least some time together, and yes, treasure is the right word.
Codex: Continuity is wonderful. Still looking forward to your Mexican adventure

Who would have thought you'd be such a cool grammar? Ha! *grampa*
Your last paragraph made me cry. So beautifully expressed. You told us about the trip but captured the truly precious memories. Life can be so good.
...enjoy your grandchildren. We just returned from the hospital were our 12 year old granddaughter is recovering from major cancer surgery.
Such a beautiful and touching photo. I would love to be a grandmother, hopefully not in the too distant future.
Very well said, and your photo really bring is all together. Both or our kids are great parents, it brings joy to my heart seeing them interact with their kids. Pain also, knowing that all too soon they will feel the pain of their kids growing up and moving on.
Exactly! I have just enjoyed a time-travel three generation weekend where we played all the old, silly games that were part of my childhood!
A special gift to have an enjoy in your life, priceless!
It’s a privilege ❤️
Love ya, bud.
It is absolutely all of those things.
