This deserves the stink-eye. Literally. |
I don't usually reflect much on bathroom stall art but this didn't seem like the usual dubious-anatomy-with-a-phone-number-attached sort of thing commonplace to men's bathroom stalls. And plus I, uh, had to remain there for a while so....
Anyway, I can't decide if the graffiti artist
a. intended viewers to experience a peaceful zen-like moment hidden away in a quiet (?) bathroom far from the busy goings-on elsewhere or
b. intended viewers to, uh, more carefully attend to the typical pffft, plop, whiz, whoosh and other such public bathroom onomatopoeia or
c. is just an impulsive vandal or some sort of Banksy wannabe or
d. frick, I don't know (why can't I stop thinking all the time?!)
Or speaking of Banksy, maybe it has something to do with this?

Reminds me of that poem about the owl and listening...
If you wear your iPod, you can listen all you want and not have any sounds you may not want to hear.
That is why I try not to frequent public restrooms. Too many things to think about like trying to squat/balance and flush with foot thing.
I was going to link it to the Listen Bird graffiti too but you beat me to it! The other possibility is that people are just nuckin futs in Edmonton.
Hmm, might have something to do with that bird, since it looks like a local trend.
one that i have to use in a restaurant sometimes has "POODLE" written on the wall. i intentionally go into that stall to see if i can ever figure out why someone would feel the need to write poodle there. i like to imagine the variations that i could make if i was the graffiti kind of person.
POOPLE, BOOBLE, BOOPLE.
so many fun ways to tweak it.
Its definitely not Street Art, its just scribble and vandalism :-).
He said listen not think! (listen to your thoughts?)
And the award goes to... you. Come on over & get it.
They probably just didn't have the time to scratch in the rest:
"Oooooahhhooo. Do you want to know a secret? OooooooAhhhooooo . . . "
Maybe he's one of those pseudo intellectualists who wants to join in on the "Listen" phenomenon that seems to be sweeping the undergraduate community as of late...
I don't want to think about listening in a MALE toilet.... ew.
bathroom onomatopoeia. Loved it.
"Listen": that's deep for a public can.
I don't think much of graffiti generally, although I do believe this message to be very keen advice.
