Cornucopi-uh-oh

Now what?
Our apples trees went nuts this year and it all came to a grim climax yesterday.

My wife is going to freak when she sees this but what choice did I have? They were prematurely flinging themselves off the trees like mini bungee-jumpers stricken with hyperactivity disorder.

I had to save them.

PIE FOR EVERYONE!

I can't say I've ever seen that many at one time. At least they will be useful and not just rot on the ground to make more dirt.

Time to stomp them and make cider, right? Which is, of course how they make cider, by stomping on them with bare feet like with grapes and wine, but it takes a lot longer.

One word -- applesauce!

Save them you did!
Apple pie
Apple Jelly
Apple sauce
Toffee Apples...
Those little puppets with the shrunken apple heads...

The possibilities are endless...

Now that's a lot of apples for sure.
When I lived in Utah, I had an apple tree in the back yard, and when I decided I no longer wanted to be domestic
I chopped it down as it irritated me, all those hyperactive flinging apples all over
I felt so free (tee,hee)
Now, unless I am making an apple pie.....oh wait, I don't do domestic

so I just feed them to my horses

Ha - that's small bananas compared to what's coming from our two apple and three pear trees {we're a bit behind you here} which are all groaning with fruit.

What you need is my 3 minute pastry/twenty minute tart recipe.

I'll stick it on the blog today or tommorrow for you

{You do sound like a pastry lover kinda guy dbs......}

I can think of lots of things to do with them. They look delicious! Good luck with the wife.

You should try and make the world's biggest apple pie.

Another cooking suggestion: take a zucchini bread recipe and modify by using apples. I make it all the time in the fall and it is YUM!

How could she be mad? Fresh apples are delicious.

Apple bowling!

No? Sorry. Everyone else took all the good ideas. :(

Bloody brilliant! You used the laundry basket which now you can't use to do laundry because it is full of apples. Love it. I need to go find me an apple tree.
