Weird Word-of-the-Day Wednesday

Lyrical (adjective): characterized by or expressing spontaneous, direct feeling.

Even though most songs contain lyrics, not all songs are lyrical. One of my favourite sayings goes, "music is what feelings sound like." I really do love any genre of music but my number one criteria is this: does the song feel sincere? I guess I long for lyrical lyrics. What are your top five favourite lyrics?
  1. "And the landslide brought me down." Stevie Nicks
  2. "I sound my barbaric yawp over the rooftops of the world." Walt Whitman
  3. "Lunatic fringe, I know you're out there." Red Rider
  4. "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty-four?" The Beatles
  5. "Manah manah (doo doo dah doo doo) manah manah (doo doo dah doo) manah manah...." The Muppets

I like that quote too. My #1 is I Hope You Dance, Leanne Womack. It's so sweet; its lyrics are like a blessing.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting on the mask saga of the 70s.
I love the post below on crunches, too.

-"They say you'll never love another 'til you love yourself, well, brother, I'm in love with everyone I see." Barenaked Ladies
-"Get rhythm, when you get the blues." Johnny Cash
-"Don't stand so close to me." Sting
-All John Donne. All. Of. It. Especially "The Flea."

Why can't I think of a good fifth? Damn scrambled brains.

* "Don't waist your whole life trying to get back what was taken away" The Offspring

* "Love will not betray, dismay or enslave you, it will set you free" Mumford and Sons

* "A watering hole where the girls are round and curves in all the right places. Big girl you are beautiful!" Mika

* Not lyrics but the whole song "Walk like a man" Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. My all-time feel-good, pick-me-up song. Turn it up and sing it loud!

* "F**k you I won't do what you tell me!" Rage against the Machine. (threw this last one in for hubby, and I kinda agree with him)

Well, now I want to know how nearly. What is your favorite Police song? That's certainly mine. But I actually like some of the Sting solo stuff. I have "brand New Day" some-damn-place.
